CRBC is proud to welcome Jeff Peel, national coordinator for the League of American Bicyclists "Bicycle Friendly Community Program".

Information about the BFC program is at http://www.bikeleague.org/programs/bicyclefriendlyamerica/. We'll also have participation and brief presentations from representatives of some of the five municipalities that make up the Centre Region Council of Governments (COG).

There's only one BFC-designated community in PA right now - Philadelphia just received the bronze status. Maybe we could be the 2nd BFC in PA? State College Boro applied several years ago and received some positive comments along with some suggestions for strengthening the application in the future. Our position might be stronger if we could present a united front and make an application that represented our regional commitment to a green environment, alternative transportation, and a healthy life style.

At this meeting, we'll learn about the program and what we need to do to help our community to develop a strong bicycle plan and to assist in the application for BFC. We'll have opportunities at future meetings to discuss things in more detail - this meeting is to inform and to motivate us to action. Please try to attend this important meeting.
